What Happened To Me Was Actually An Incredible Accident...
Yes, that's right...
My first success... the success that led me to generating millions online was something that I fell face-first into. I had heard about all the people making money online so I decided to give it a try.
Clearly it couldn't hurt me or my current situation.
The first thing I did was to locate a mentor that had 'been there and done that'. I wanted to shorten my learning curve and increase my earning curve, so I wasn't about to waste time.
My mentor's mantra was always, "Success in marketing stems from solving people's problems." So that's what I did. I helped solve people's problems.
And it was not long after being mentored that I was making over $90,000 a year online.
Enough to help start scratching and clawing my way out of debt and significantly more than I was making at my church salary, so I felt the peace of God to pursue the Internet Marketing career full time and be a stay home dad to help raise my daughter, Izabella.
Now, while I was making great money (or what I thought was great money at the time) I was spending 10... 12... sometimes 15 hours a day, often 6 or 7 days a week working on my business. (some people call that a "marriage killer")
It was because I was handling everything.
I was the phone salesman, website designer, the copywriter, the tech guy, the support person, the search engine guy, the content creator, and on and on and on... I tried to master and learn EVERYTHING. I was wearing all the hats.
Then I Stumbled Upon A Big Secret...
One day I found that my shopping cart was not functioning properly. And by not functioning properly I mean I was totally unable to process my orders and make money.
So, I began to try to repair it myself.
15 hours later I was no further ahead than when I first began. I remembered a conversation I had with Armand Morin, where he told me to "outsource" my internet marketing and where to get people to do my stuff.
So, I found someone that had the experience to fix my problems and 1 hour later, I received an email that told me my issue was fixed... total cost to me: $150.
I was both thrilled and irritated with myself. Thrilled because my problem was solved by someone else. Irritated because I probably lost several hundred dollars by not having my shopping cart for the 15 hours I tried to tinker with it.
Well, I sent off the $150 payment and this programmer replied back to me, "Thank you for your business Mr. Mills. Is there anything else that we can do for you?"
Half-joking I replied, "Yes, you can get me to #1 on Google for all my important keywords."
My jaw just about hit the floor when I received his response... "No problem. We can do that for you too."
I Never Looked Back!
6 months later I was #1 on Google for 24 (yes 24) of my top keywords. The number of unique visitors streaming to my site every single day was ridiculous.
And even better, hundreds of people per month were contacting me for more information about my several-thousand-dollar travel club business opportunity. I wasn't chasing them down...
